Panel Discussion: "White Men in Africa", Navigating race, gender and identity in fieldwork as a European Researcher in Postcolonial Settings
Considering fieldwork in a postcolonial country? This panel prepares you to navigate the complexities of fieldwork by providing advice, guidance, and critical reflection on key issues of postcolonial research.
What does it mean for European researchers to carry out fieldwork - ethnographic or otherwise - in Africa, Latin America, or Asia today? Inspired by standpoint theory, this seminar is an opportunity to reflect on the ethical, theoretical, and practical implications of doing research in postcolonial settings. We invite students and researchers alike to discuss the challenges, pitfalls, and responsibilities of conducting research in/on the Postcolony.
Please register on or before the 28 March 2024 to reserve your place for the panel discussion and Swedish fika.
